The Partnership were successful in obtaining funding from Community Initiatives Programme (CIP) and Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN) to purchase and install Skate Park equipment in Royston park.

The Wheel Park is extremely popular and well used.  An official opening performed by local skate champion Jenna Downing was held on the 6th May 2002.  The event was attended by over 200 young people, some of which took part in competitions for inline skates, skateboards and BMX's.  The event was a huge success and was enjoyed by all.

A further, equally successful competion, was held in September 2002.

The Partnership hopes to make these competitions into annual events.
