Summer Activity Programme

The Partnership held its most successful Summer Programme to date during the period between 12/8/02 - 23/8/02. The Partnership hopes to be able to offer a similar programme in the Summer of 2003.

The Partnership continues to increase its membership and members include Sports Groups, Neighbourhood Watch Schemes, local businesses as well as individual members who can have a say on what they would like to see happen in their area and make informed decisions on how to achieve these aims. Some community groups have benefited from advice on obtaining funding to raising public awareness.

The Partnership has been successful in obtaining grants for several schemes and projects with further funding applications still in the pipeline.

North Barnsley Partnership

Based at the Grove, Station Road in Royston, North Barnsley Partnership is a new organisation whose aim is to help develop businesses and the economy in the local area.

The whole of south yorkshire has been designated by the European Union as an Objective 1 region. Under this scheme the neighbourhoods in North Barnsley were recognised as 'Communities in transition'. That means communities by their own efforts and through the work of Community Partnerships and other local organistations have started to lift themselves from the very critical conditions that followed the coal and steel closures.

The task of North Barnsley Partnership is therefore to develop economic opportunities in the targeted areas of Royston, Carlton, Cudworth, Athersley, Monk Bretton, West Green and Shafton. This will mainly be achieved by implementing a variety of projects to stimulate economic growth in the area.

Leaflets detailing the route of the walk are available from the Partnership office at The Grove.
