This sub-group continues to enjoy the successes of the many clubs and groups which it has helped to set up and to which it gives ongoing support. Many of these clubs focus on the older members of the community and include:-
Visiting Scheme for elderly, isolated members of the community
Walk and Talk Group - meets every Tuesday
Gardening Group - alternate Wednesdays other than school holidays
Lunch Club - every Wednesday other than school holidays
Ladies Swimming and Fitness Group - Tuesday afternoons
Gentle Exercise Classes - every Wednesday

The Health and Well-Being sub-group was established on 14 May 1996 and its aim is to:
"...promote the physical, mental and social well-being for the residents of Royston and Carlton as part of the overall regeneration of the community."
We have produced an
information booklet for older people, which provides details of social activities in Royston and Carlton, and voluntary support groups in the region.

The Partnership is seeking funding to run a pilot project from The Grove. The project will be run in conjunction with the Citizens Advice Bureau and will provide an information point from which members of the community will be able to access information and advice on a wide range of topics such as legal advice, debt counsilling and benefits advice.

Another new project starting early in 2003 is the "Bridging the Gap 2 Better Health". This is part of the Healthy Living Barnsley Consortium. The project will focus on a wide range of health issues and is aimed at young people and their families. It is hoped that a ground floor room within The Grove will be refurbished to provide a 'drop-in' facility for people to access information and support in an informal and friendly setting.
